Next up in Opera Talks, we tackle Tosca on Wednesday, November 20, ahead of the Metropolitan Opera Live in HD screening of its production November 23 (encore presentation December 4). This series of opera discussions reflects a new partnership between Opera Wilmington and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI).
Taking on Tosca will be Cindy Tarantino, vice president of Opera Wilmington, who has studied the opera as well as an array of different approaches to staging it. Her talk begins at 3 p.m. in OLLI’s Truist Building, located at 680 S. College Road in Wilmington. Reservations are required, and can be made here. Tickets are $10.

For the Live in HD presentations in the winter and spring of 2025, UNCW professor and opera historian Helena Kopchick Spencer will lead the Opera Talk, diving into the story behind the upcoming opera, providing insights and context designed to increase your appreciation of the work. Join other opera lovers to reflect on an old favorite or sample new works!
The Opera Talks series, held the Wednesday before each Live in HD screening, is open to non-members of OLLI as well as members.
