See where the magic happens! On Saturday, July 12, Opera Wilmington hosts its annual “Behind the Scenes” open house in UNCW’s Mainstage Theatre, in preparation for its production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Visitors will tour the set with scenic designer Max Lydy, peek inside the costume department, where costumer Mark Sorensen will share his secrets for making everyone on stage look terrific, and get the full scoop on Mozart’s score (and more) from artistic director Nancy King.
After the tour, everyone will reassemble in the Mainstage Theatre to meet and hear from cast members and have the chance to ask them questions.
The two-hour program, suitable for all ages, begins at 10 AM and is free of charge. The Mainstage Theatre, located inside UNCW’s Cultural Arts Building, is barrier-free. (It’s also cool and dry!) No reservations are needed; just show up!
Come behind the scenes and you’ll be in the know when you see Don Giovanni, which opens Friday, July 18 at 7 PM and continues Sunday, July 20 at 3 PM; Friday, July 25 at 7 PM; and Sunday, July 27 at 3 PM.
To reach the Cultural Arts Building, enter the UNCW campus on Randall Drive and continue on Randall past the intersection with Racine Drive (at the water tower). The CAB is on your right and free parking is adjacent.
