What sort of cocktail would the legendary lothario choose to charm an object of his desire? That’s the challenge we posed to Caprice Bistro mixologist Kat Colley. Her answer? Two sinfully delicious drinks: The Seducer and The Invitation. The cocktails signal Caprice Bistro’s collaboration with Opera Wilmington to engage its customers with the Don Giovanni (Don Juan) story. Opera Wilmington presents Mozart’s Don Giovanni in four performances later this month.
“Our goal was to capture the spirit and drama of Mozart’s Don Giovanni while staying true to the classic elegance and charm of Caprice Bistro,” Colley says. “Sip your way into the story before the curtain rises — then catch Don Giovanni live July 18, 20, 25 & 27 at Opera Wilmington.”
“Don Giovanni is a magnificent dramatic opera with intrigue, deception and – in the end – a death that reflects Don Giovanni’s dishonesty and the heartbreak he has caused,” says artistic director Nancy King. “We’re happy to partner with Caprice Bistro in introducing these themed cocktails that hint at the story.”
The Invitation is an artful mix of vodka, prosecco, Aperol, blood orange syrup, club soda and singed rosemary sprig.
The Seducer is an enticing combination of reposado tequila, St. Germain, basil simple syrup, lime juice and fresh basil.
Both are available from Sunday, July 6 through Sunday, July 27, the date of Opera Wilmington’s final performance of Don Giovanni.
Caprice Bistro is at 10 Market Street, Wilmington. 910 815-0810 or capricebistro.com. Hours are M-Sat 4PM – 10PM, Sunday 4PM – 9PM.
